A Virginia teenager was fatally shot Saturday night after entering the wrong house, according to The Washington Post.

Caleb Gordley, 16, was grounded because he hadn’t cleaned his room, but the teenager decided to sneak out of his house and attend a house party with some friends.

The Post reports that the homeowner heard his burglar alarm when Gordley entered the wrong house. The two met on the stairs, and the man said he told the teenager to leave and fired a warning shot.

Police said Gordley was intoxicated and didn’t stop. The man then fired again, striking and killing the teenager, The Post reports.
