Teens charged in Oklahoma death bound over for trial

Oklahoman Published: August 16, 2012

TULSA (AP) — Two teenagers charged in the alleged carjacking death of a Tulsa woman have been bound over for trial.

A judge ruled Wednesday there was sufficient evidence for Brandon Maxwell and Destin Rodriguez to stand trial on charges of second-degree murder and vehicle theft.

The 19-year-olds are charged in the death of 45-year-old Avonna Olson, who was run over and killed as someone tried to steal her minivan from her driveway.

Tulsa television station KOTV reports that Maxwell's attorney says Maxwell wants to reach a plea deal and avoid trial. Attorney Shea Burgess says that Maxwell has felt “extreme remorse” that his actions caused Olson's death.

Rodriguez' attorney argued that her client wasn't involved in Olson's death.

The two are next due in court Aug. 27. has disabled the comments for this article.
