I just wish people would stop putting upside down horns on their cars. I think it's low-class and glorifies the enemy rather than supporting yOUr team. I think the same thing happens at aTm in one of their school songs they refer to UT. Also Georgia Tech sings "to hell with Georgia" in their fight song.

Mike, what is soo freaking great or unique about "Your OU-Texas Love" that can't wait until Sunday? Will it make the teams play differently, Baylor perhaps for a minute or two but probably won't impact anything. But it appears the DOK has considered this game a given. If this article were printed Sunday or Monday she would get material then than she would right now. My opinion. If you don't mind me having one.
eudell, Virginia Beach - Oct 2, 2008 at 8:00 pm
"WE" need to focus? Are you kidding me? Let's try some logic for a few minutes. None of YOU need to focus on Baylor - YOU'RE NOT ON THE TEAM. Carlson is gathering material for a story next week. God forbid she plan ahead...it might make our team lose focus and turn Baylor into a trap game. [rolleyes] Nowhere in the article does it say that a OU win vs. Baylor is a given. Get a grip, people.

This give Baylor motivation. Out of respect, we should wait until we have played Baylor.
eudell, Virginia Beach - Oct 2, 2008 at 11:05 am
I am a die hard OU fan but I too agree that this article is way too premature. We need to focus on EVERY game, and lot lose sight. Baylor is no pushover this year, not necessarily that Im worried - but being #1 nowdays means you must win BIG each week. Remember Georgia? The were #1 at the beginning of the season (and probably rightfully so) yet they lost that ranking the next week even though they won. OU is #1 and deserves it, now we need to keep it and not lose sight. We need to win based on the line - if they say we're a 28 point favourite, guess what the margin needs to be to stay #1. .. To stay that way, OU needs to beat Baylor (first) by the margin, then we can worry and hype-up the TexASS game. And please drop the racist crap. Who cares who people like, date, whatever. Those of you on here who keep trying to start something need to become open minded yourselves - you're the only one who thinks someone liking black guys or whose wife has mexican in her is a "bad" thing.

Really people? Writing about OU-Texas romances is giving Baylor bulletin board material? Give me a break. Lighten up.

OU - where Texans go to become champions!!!
James, Milwaukee - Oct 1, 2008 at 10:15 am
I'm an OU alum/fan that would like to give it up for Texas fans. When you get down to brass tacks, it's all about being passionate for your team. Texans love the Horns as much as Okies love the Sooners and I respect that. Now Miami on the other hand...
James, Milwaukee - Oct 1, 2008 at 10:04 am
Texas is a great state, it provides protection against hurricanes in Oklahoma. It is getting more and more difficult to travel there though as I don't speak Spanish.

I don't think I could live in a house divided. I'm from Texas, live in Texas, but live the crimson and cream where I went to school. Married a girl from Oklahoma, best friend and business partner is a huge OU fan as well. I'm surrounded by shorthorn fans; that is bad enough. Couldn't handle living with one or being in business with one. Do you know the difference between a Texas Longhorn and a bucket of cow manure? THE BUCKET GO SOONERS!!!!

Im from Texas, but you will never see me root for the Longhorns. The Oklahoma Sooners are my team and they always will be, most of my friends are Texas fans soo its fun when OU wins then its not soo fun when OU loses but that wont happen this year..OU 14-0 Big 12 and National Champs!

Just gave Baylor motivation by writing this article prematurely.

I live in NM, but i did a four year 'stint' in Oklahoma from '84 to '88 - of course OU won the championship in '86 against Penn State, and being a young man who loved football, I fell in love with OU. The funny thing is that my Dad & Mom both and thier families are all from Texas, they are huge Texas fans and I can't stand Texas! My dad tells me that my grandfather would roll over in his grave if he knew I was an OU fan. Another funny thing is that I have two sons - one named Austin - he loves OU, and the other is Tyler - both names from cities in Texas - and he loves OU. I didn't plan it that way, but my dad say's I can't get it out of my blood. On a parting note, my son showed my dad the 'hook em horns' sign the other day and my dad got all excited and then Austin slowly turned them upside down...I couldn't have been any more proud! Boomer Sooner!
James, Gallup - Sep 30, 2008 at 10:12 pm
I love Texas! That is true! I love Texas! The state provides OU with many, many, many great players that help OU beat the University of Texas! And it will happen again this year with over 1/2 of our team from the state of Texas. So don't you love Texas Too?
Robert, Denver - Sep 30, 2008 at 6:19 pm
Let's talk OU Texas next week, Baylor is on the menu THIS week. The papers can't even take one week at a time!!!!!

My wife is a Texas-Ex and I'm a Sooner. We have a 1985 Schooner Championship Wagon hitched up to Bevo for show in our living room along with an OU and UT Cheerleader Barbies riding in style. The winning team's Barbie rides lead on Bevo and the loser gets the back of the wagon. Boomer Sooner!

I was once in luv with a fine Texasian girl. She went back home and used to write. I decided to go to Texass and see her. She gave me the directions, from Ketchum go West until you smell something, take a left and go south until you step in chit...deep in the heart of Texass.

OU / Tx love? Well one time, coming back we drove by a gas station named Rumpy'sin TX. I met a wonderful girl named Sparkles. She took me behind the dumpsters $14.75, later I found out Sparkles was a dude. Oh well, I just closed my eyes.

ONe time at Commerce STreet, a guy jumped on the hood of our mini-van. So we shot silly string at some Texas girls driving around in a convertible they're daddy obviously bought them. Then we did the upside down horns.

I Love going to Dallas for OU/UT to see those sexy Texas girls...and after UT loses I'm there to comfort them
Brandon, edmond - Sep 30, 2008 at 1:43 pm
I went to UT for undergrad and moved up here a month ago for graduate school at OU. I think both schools are great, I and have a lot of family and friends that are alumni of both universities. Frankly, I feel like the rivalry gets out of control. People that get so bent out of shape about hating UT or OU need anger management classes, or a less aggressive hobby to keep themselves busy during OU/TX.

Nancy: It is sad that a husband would change his wife's ways of thinking and views on something like the school she went to! Almost like brainwashing. I wonder what else he makes her submit to? She wasn't a real fan anyway, or she wouldn't have folded under the pressure of a Texan. That story makes me sick. No man should have that kind of power over a woman!

I work with a gal that is an OU alum and married a UT alum...he hates OU soo much that she can't have anything to do with her alma mater; they go to all of the UT games and she now support UT and can't even mention OU in their home; their son wouldn't even consider going to OU and decided to go to OSU

It was 1968, I was in the Army stationed in Heidelberg, Germany, and an Army buddy Jim Banks (from Texas) and I bet on the outcome of the annual OU/TX fight. I then found out that the game was not going to be on Armed Forces radio, and we'd only get results from the Stars and Stripes newspaper. Disappointed, I wrote to WKY radio, who broadcast the games during those years, explaining my problem. Within a few days, I got a letter from Lee Allen Smith that WKY would be happy to send me a tape recording of the game. It arrived within 3 days of the game, on giant radio station reel-to-reel tapes. I was impressed, as were others in my unit, and we sat and listened to the entire broadcast. I've still got those tapes, 40 years later, and will always remember how grateful I was to WKY for helping some homesick GI's enjoy that game. Only bad thing was we lost!
