The hottest day of the year is expected in Oklahoma Tuesday, and a clean air alert has been issued due to light winds and poor air quality, the National Weather Service reports.
Heat advisories are in effect for parts of eastern Oklahoma. Scorching temperatures return Wednesday and Thursday.
In Oklahoma City, emergency crews treated seven patients Monday for heat-related problems, the Emergency Medical Services Authority reports. People are urged to drink plenty of water before working or playing out in the heat.
The Oklahoma City forecast is as follows:
Tuesday: Sunny and hot with a high near 105. West wind at 7 mph becoming southeast.
Tuesday night: Mostly clear with a low around 75. Southeast wind between 9 and 13 mph.
Wednesday: Sunny and hot with a high near 103. South wind between 13 and 16 mph, with gusts as high as 23 mph.
Wednesday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 73. South southeast wind between 10 and 14 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.
Thursday: Sunny and hot with a high near 103. South southwest wind between 9 and 14 mph with gusts as high as 20 mph.
Thursday Night: Mostly clear with a low around 75.
Friday: Sunny and hot with a high near 98.
Friday Night: Mostly clear with a low around 73.
Saturday: Sunny and hot with a high near 98.
Saturday Night: Mostly clear with a low around 75.
