Wednesday temperatures in central Oklahoma are on the rise. The heat index will be near 98 degrees, the National Weather Service reports.

The Oklahoma City forecast is as follows:

Wednesday: Sunny with a high near 95. Heat index values as high as 98. South, southwest wind 14 to 21 mph with gusts as high as 29 mph.

Wednesday night: Clear with a low around 73. South, southwest wind 10 to 15 mph with gusts as high as 21 mph.

Thursday: Sunny with a high near 95. Heat index values as high as 101. Light southwest wind becoming south 5 to 10 mph in the afternoon.

Thursday night: Mostly clear with a low around 72. South wind 7 to 10 mph.

Friday: Sunny with a high near 94. South wind 8 to 16 mph with gusts as high as 23 mph.

Friday night: Partly cloudy with a low around 72.

Saturday: Mostly sunny with a high near 92.

Saturday night: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy with a low around 70.

Sunday: Mostly sunny with a high near 93.
