Term limits for Congress would be good idea

Published: September 15, 2012

Tom O'Neill (Your Views, Sept. 9) recommended term limits for Congress. The perfect example of this wisdom is U.S. Sen. Tom Coburn — someone who's willing to do and say what's right, with no concern for the criticism he might get. Coburn cares not about popularity because re-election isn't his concern. He just wants to do what's best for our country. I know and love our other congressional representatives, but their conservative scores from the Heritage Foundation aren't what they should be. It would help their image if they all sponsored a term-limits bill when, and if, Republicans take the Senate. I understand the wisdom of not limiting their own years unless it passes, but they should promote it.
