Terry Nichols seeks lawyer for prison food lawsuit
Terry Nichols wants a judge to appoint an attorney to help him with his lawsuit against the government over his prison food.
Nichols, a co-conspirator in the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing, sued March 16 over the food at the supermax prison in Florence, Colo. He wrote the food is bad for him because he has suffered from chronic constipation, bleeding and hemorrhoids for more than 30 years. He also alleged his religious rights are being violated because he is forced to sin against God by eating refined foods that destroy "His holy temple ... my body.” In a motion filed Monday in Denver, Nichols said he cannot afford an attorney and needs one "because the issues in this case are complex and will require significant research and investigation.” He wants meals with 100 percent whole grain foods and more fresh raw vegetables and fresh fruit. He also seeks more than $2 million in damages.
