LAWTON — Emotional testimony marked the first day of the first-degree murder trial of a Fort Sill soldier charged in the starvation death of his girlfriend's 10-year-old son.

Pfc. Connell Williams is charged in the May 2011 death of Marcus Holloway. He has pleaded not guilty.
Fort Sill Assistant Fire Prevention Chief Bobby Cline cried as he testified Thursday of finding the boy emaciated and with no heartbeat. Emergency room doctors testified that the child had been dead at least four hours when he arrived at a hospital.
Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty.
The mother — Candice Holloway — was sentenced to 30 years in prison after pleading guilty to murder as part of a deal in which she is to testify against Williams.
