Texas booster Red McCombs calls Strong hire ‘a kick in the face’

Texas billionaire Red McCombs thought he should have had more say in who would be the next head coach at Texas.

Seeing as how he's contributed more than $100 million to the university, maybe he has an argument, but McCombs was essentially frozen out of the hiring process, one that was completed this week with the hire of Charlie Strong.

McCombs, who wanted NFL analyst Jon Gruden to be the next Longhorns coach, called the hiring of the Louisville's Strong 'a kick in the face.'
