The nation's fourth-largest death care services company has added to its state holdings with the acquisition of Havenbrook Funeral Home in Norman.
Houston-based Carriage Services Inc. now owns eight funeral homes and cemeteries in Oklahoma. The company did not disclose details of the Havenbrook acquisition.
Officials of publicly traded Carriages Services said Havenbrook will operate in tandem with Carriage-owned Moore Funeral & Cremation in Moore. Havenbrook handles about 320 death services per year.
Havenbrook was founded by Jeannie Roberts in 1995, and Chad and Jennifer Vice acquired the funeral home and renovated it in 2010, the company said. The Vice family will stay involved, with Chad Vice as managing partner of Havenbrook and Moore Funeral & Cremation.
Carriage Services operates 167 funeral homes in 26 states and 33 cemeteries in 12 states.
In Oklahoma, the company also owns Resthaven Funeral Home and Resthaven Memory Gardens at 500 SW 104, Don Grantham Funeral Home in Duncan, Gray Funeral Home in Grandfield, Sunset Memorial Garden in Lawton and Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home in Lawton.
Mel Payne, Carriage Services chairman and CEO, said the Havenbrook fits the company's growth strategy.
“We have known Chad and his family for many years, and now with our comprehensive back office support services, his entrepreneurial leadership and heavy family involvement in the community will be a catalyst for accelerated market share growth in the Norman and Moore markets,” he said.
