Texas football: Why Iowa State over the Longhorns is this week's Big 12 upset special

TEXAS-IOWA STATE — If this season has proven anything, it's that you can't trust the Longhorns.

Finally, we've figured out the Texas Longhorns. Expect the unexpected.

Gritty game in the Cotton Bowl? Uh, no, an OU rout. Blitzed by Baylor? No, the ‘Horns hung tough to win.

Roll at Kansas? No, Texas was lucky to survive against the hapless Jayhawks. Get rolled at Texas Tech? No, UT sprang the upset.

So Saturday, when Iowa State comes to Royal-Memorial Stadium, why trust the Longhorns? Iowa State plays solid defense and is in any game when it gets even decent quarterbacking.

Steele Jantz has delivered the last two weeks. He led a victory over Baylor, then played well against the Sooners in a 35-20 loss, despite getting no help from his receivers.

Now Iowa State returns to the scene of its shocker over Texas in 2010. The ‘Horns are a 101/2-point favorite, but let's go with the Cyclones in the upset.
