DALLAS (AP) — This weekend's Dallas Marathon has been canceled after a North Texas ice storm snarled travel and left more than a quarter of a million homes and business without electricity.
Organizers of the Dallas Marathon on Friday afternoon cited weather and canceled Sunday's race, which usually draws about 25,000 runners from around the world.
Fort Worth-based American Airlines and American Eagle canceled nearly 1,000 flights Friday due to foul weather in Texas. Dallas-based Southwest Airlines canceled almost 90 flights.
Oncor (ON'-kor) on Friday morning had nearly 268,000 homes and businesses without power. Crews trimmed that number to about 200,000 outages by late Friday afternoon.
At least two traffic deaths statewide are blamed on the wintry weather.
