Christopher R. Dayberry, 46, was southbound on U.S. 259 about a mile south of Smithville at about 6:30 a.m. when his pickup veered off the road to the left and struck two trees, the patrol said.
He was not wearing a seat belt and died at the scene.
His wife and passenger, Glenda Rae Dayberry, 53, was wearing a seat belt and was not hurt, the patrol said.
