AMARILLO, Texas — A West Texas man has been sentenced to more than 12 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to taking a teenager across state lines for prostitution.

A local newspaper reports that 40-year-old Jerrod Lamonte Marshall of Amarillo was sentenced Monday to 151 months without parole and ordered to pay $2,900 in restitution to his 15-year-old victim.

The newspaper, relying on a news release from the U.S. attorney for the Western District of Missouri, reports that Marshall pleaded guilty in February to transporting a minor to engage in prostitution.

Officials arrested the victim for prostitution in Joplin, Mo., in January 2012 and she told them she'd previously worked as a prostitute for Marshall in Tulsa, Okla.
