Texas man struck, killed by two cars near Durant

A Texas man died Friday after he ran onto the highway and was struck by two cars on U.S. 69 near Durant, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported.

A Texas man died Friday after he ran onto the highway and was struck by two cars on U.S. 69 near Durant, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported.

About 7:30 p.m., Ronald Dale Hunter, 54, of Odessa, Texas, ran onto the highway about five miles north of Durant. He ran into the passenger side of a car traveling in the inside lane, troopers said. Another car struck the man as he was lying in the roadway. Hunter died at the scene.

The 19-year-old driver of the first car was not injured. The driver of the second vehicle is unknown, troopers said.

The accident still is under investigation.
