AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Cam Ridley scored a career-high 22 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as Texas cruised to an 85-53 victory over Texas State on Saturday night.

The Longhorns (9-1) won their fifth straight game, marking their longest win streak in nearly two years and giving them their 25th straight victory over the Bobcats (3-7). Texas held Texas State to 29.7 percent shooting from the floor and 19.2 percent shooting from 3-point range -- the worst marks by a Longhorns opponent this year.

Texas started the game on a 6-0 run before 3-pointers by Wesley Davis and Joel Wright helped Texas State tie it at 8. The Bobcats hit three of their first 3-point attempts before missing their next eight and going nearly 20 minutes without hitting a single shot from beyond the arc.

Ridley's three-point play with 11:26 left gave Texas a 17-14 lead, but Texas State once again tied the game, this time at 20 on Wright's dunk with 5:59 to go in the first half. The Longhorns ended the half on a 13-2 run to take a 33-22 halftime lead and won the game running away.

"I know Cam told his mom what happened last year was as much his fault as anybody's because he said he could've done more and worked harder," Texas head coach Rick Barnes said of Ridley's self-evaluation of his efforts during last year's 16-18 campaign. "When the freshmen came in a year ago, there wasn't a lot of leadership. I think they were determined to do the opposite for the freshmen this year."

Ridley scored the first five Texas points of the second half and helped his team outscore Texas State 52-31 in the final 20 minutes. Javan Felix hit a pair of 3-pointers early in the second half and scored 13 points, hitting a career-high four shots from beyond the arc.

"That shot definitely gave me some confidence," Felix said. "This week I was able to get me a lot of reps and focus on the smaller things in my shot. I felt good tonight and a couple of them went in."

Texas went on a 13-2 run to extend its lead over Texas State to 62-37 before Davis hit a 3-pointer and got the assist on a layup by Kavin Gilder-Tibury. But dunks by Ridley and Holland on an alley-oop pass from Kendal Yancy put the game further out of reach.
