BEST SIGHTS

Escalator rides and cheerleaders. The morning started with TCU mascot SuperFrog taking in USA TODAY's sports section while casually leaning against the railing of the escalator, and the Baylor mascot Bruiser riding down the elevator with a flip cam strapped to his head. As for the cheerleaders, the Iowa State ones were adjusting their outfits, their uniforms, their everything in the reflection of the glass of the hotel bar.

BEST PRESSER

Mack Brown stole the show, before the other shows even had a chance to perform. Following the Texas coach into the print room was an entourage of cheerleaders: Baylor, Iowa State, Oklahoma State, TCU and, of course, Texas. There were no Oklahoma cheerleaders. Then came the chair. The Texas coach had a little difficulty sitting on that crimson-like chair that replaced a podium. “Well, I'm sitting in a red chair,” Brown started. “I don't do that very often.” That's only the second coach to point out the chair. The first was Bob Stoops. So why the cheerleaders? Mack said he brought them to answer the “tough questions.” The Oklahoman's Berry Tramel asked the first question, to the cheerleaders, “I just want to know which quarterback you prefer.” Mack didn't even let them answer, “They want the worst one.”

Classic.

BEST JOKES

Art Briles, hands down. This man cracked a joke at almost every question a media member asked. That's pretty difficult since these days are normally deemed the most personality-less days of the season.

Media: Coach, I'm curious. How important do you see a new stadium at Baylor being to sustaining some of the success that you've had?
