The big idea: Feel-good Brick games

Published: July 19, 2008
With the NBA coming to town, there's been a lot of talk about high-dollar deals and big-money transactions.

Here's a reminder that everything in sports isn't a million-dollar venture.

On Monday, the RedHawks play an early game at 12:05 p.m. Once their game is finished, there will be two games kicking off the inaugural Justin Sullivan Memorial Tournament.

Sullivan, you'll remember, was the 2002 All-State baseball player of the year who was killed in an automobile accident the day after he received the honor. His youth pastor Chris Wall wrote a book inspired by Justin's journal, and money generated by "A Life Worth Following” is funding a baseball team this summer.

The Ambassadors are part baseball squad, part traveling testimonial. Even though they compete, they also do baseball clinics and share their faith.

Next week's tournament is the Ambassadors' final fundraiser before they leave for a baseball mission trip in Nicaragua.

Monday's games at The Brick will start at approximately 3:30 p.m. The Midwest City Outlaws will play the Edmond Stars in the first game followed by the Ambassadors and the Edmond Travelers.

Need a dose of feel-good? Then you won't want to miss these games for a good cause.
