The Hornets mascot is back in the NBA, and back in its original city.

For the 2014-15 NBA season, the Charlotte Bobcats will revert back to the first franchise name the city ever had and a similar color scheme to the 1988 first edition.

Charlotte COO Fred Whitfield said at a press conference Tuesday that the Hornets would reclaim its past Hornets history. That means that the franchise's all-time stats and records from the 1988-2002 Charlotte Hornets, and the entire 10-year existence of the Charlotte Bobcats, would be retained.

What remains untouched is the history of the New Orleans Hornets, who changed their name to the Pelicans in 2013. Following Hurricane Katrina, the New Orleans Hornets played a majority of its home games in Oklahoma City in 2005-06 and 2006-07.
