Two storied science-fiction franchises come together with this week's comic book miniseries teaming the characters of “Doctor Who” and “Star Trek: The Next Generation.”
“Star Trek: The Next Generation/Doctor Who: Assimilation2” is released by IDW Publishing in conjunction with BBC Worldwide Consumer Products and CBS Consumer Products.
“By joining these two sci-fi powerhouses, fans will be taken on the ultimate adventure through time and space,” said Liz Kalodner, executive vice president and general manager of CBS Consumer Products, in a news release.
The villains of the piece are two mechanized races that have made trouble for the heroes: the Borg and the Cybermen. When these two groups unite, the galaxy is at stake.
In the series, Captain Jean-Luc Picard and the crew of the USS Enterprise join forces with the Doctor and his companions.
“We are excited about this new adventure for the Doctor and the fact that he will be traveling with Captain Jean-Luc Picard and his iconic crew,” said BBC Worldwide's Soumya Sriraman, executive vice president Home Entertainment and Licensing.
This eight-issue series is written by Scott and David Tipton (“Star Trek: Infestation) with Tony Lee (“Doctor Who”). The covers will be painted by J.K. Woodward (“Fallen Angel”).
