The Honda Dream Soichiro Honda began by producing small engines attached to bicycles. In 1949, he created the Dream Type D , a motorcycle with upright seating, a stamped steel frame and a 98cc engine.

According to legend, it was named during a company party when a worker sipping home-brewed sake said the machine was "like a dream.”

In 1959, Honda motorcycles were introduced into the U.S. market.
