In 1970, Major League Baseball moved the Seattle Pilots, after only one season of existence, to Milwaukee, where they became the Brewers. Now Seattle faces the loss of another major league franchise, the NBA's 41-year-old SuperSonics, and there are similarities between Seattle's loss of the Pilots and its impending loss of the Sonics:

1. The city of Seattle filed an anti-trust lawsuit against MLB in 1970. The case dragged on until 1976, when the American League agreed to place an expansion team in Seattle. Seattle is suing the Sonics owners to fulfill the KeyArena lease, former Sonic owner Howard Schultz is suing the ownership group to overturn the sale of the franchise and Seattle has taken the NBA to court, seeking financial records and a deposition from commissioner David Stern.
