High-scoring starts
Entering the third game of the season, Oklahoma has scored 130 points and could significantly add to that today against Utah State. In 1917, the Sooners scored a school-record 330 points in their first three games, but after 1920, the numbers came back down to earth. Here are OU's 10 highest scoring starts through three games since 1920:

10. 133 points, 1979: 63-21 over Rice, third game

9. 134 points, 2004: 63-13 over Houston, second game

8. 138 points, 1990: 52-10 over both Pitt and Tulsa, second and third games

7 (tie). 142 points, 2000, 2002: 55-14 over UTEP, first game; 68-0 over UTEP, third game

5. 147 points, 1956: 66-0 over Kansas State, second game

4. 153 points, 1978: 66-7 over Rice, third game

3. 162 points, 1987: 69-14 over North Texas, first game

2. 163 points, 1974: 72-3 over Utah State, second game

1. 169 points, 1972: 68-3 over Oregon, second game
