Storytelling and music are the topics of the July edition of  “The Living Room with Gerry Bonds.”

Details on the radio program, provided in a news release, are as follows:

Award-winning longtime NBC correspondent Bob Dotson is the first segment guest.  In a career which began in Oklahoma and now spans four decades, Dotson has captivated American audiences with his tales of ordinary people achieving remarkable things in his series, “American Story.”  Dotson and I talk about his new book, “American Story:  A Lifetime Search for Ordinary People Doing Extraordinary Things,” where he takes the reader deeper into many of those stories and realizations about himself.  Also discussed are his Oklahoma roots and his video archives at the University of Oklahoma.

In the second segment, the guests are Oklahoma’s musical ambassador, Kyle Dillingham, and Edmond Teacher of the Year, Peter Markes.  Markes, Dillingham, and a third member of their trio, Brent Saulsbury, call their band, “Horseshoe Road.”

They  have just returned from a world tour with the the U.S. State Department-sponsored American Voices Music Abroad program, that took them to Korea, Taiwan, Burma and Russia.  Dillingham and Markes share their experiences in bringing live American music and its traditions to young and underserved audiences in those countries.

They play a few lively notes in the studio as well:  Dillingham on his fiddle and Markes on his guitar.

“The Living Room with Gerry Bonds” will be broadcast on KOSU public radio (97.1 and 107.5 FM) on Wednesday, July 3 at 6:30 p.m., on Sunday, July 7 at 5:30 a.m., and on Tuesday, July 9 at 8:30 a.m.

It also streams live on the web at kosu.org and can be accessed on our website: www.thelivingroomgb.com

In addition, it can be heard twice a month on KCNP (89.5 FM) Chickasaw Community radio/Ada.
