1. 2009 Georgia at OSU: Yes, this is the biggest season opener in Cowboy history. OSU has its highest preseason ranking ever, 11th, and it coincides with 13th-ranked Georgia, one of the most tradition-rich powers ever to play in Stillwater.

2. 1985 OSU at Washington: Cowboys coming off a 10-2 season, ranked 16th, against the preseason No. 12 team. OSU won 31-17.

3. 2003 OSU at Nebraska: Expectations were high for the 24th-ranked Cowboys, who had a chance to make a statement against the supposedly down Huskers. But Nebraska won 17-7.

4. 1984 OSU at Arizona State: The Pat Jones era kicked off against the 12th-ranked Sun Devils, who were picked to win the national title by Sports Illustrated. The Cowboys dominated 45-3 and went on to a superb season.

5. 2007 OSU at Georgia: Cowboy teams had been to Tennessee, LSU and Florida, but never had OSU been to SEC territory with a competitive squad. This game didn't stay competitive; the 13th-ranked Bulldogs won 35-14.

6. 1941 OSU at OU: The ancient rivals have staged 103 football games, but only in '41 and '42 were they season openers. The Cowboys had lost six straight to the Sooners, then made it seven with a 19-0 defeat.
