The league will be stronger without Nebraska and Colorado in the mix

The Big 12 is shrinking. For basketball, that means strengthening.

"Our league just got better," said Kansas coach Bill Self.

A reshaped football conference, minus Nebraska and Colorado, offers lesser appeal and fewer marquee games and dread of more frequent trips to Ames and Manhattan and the other former North Division outposts.
