The NBA's wild, wild west

No. 6 and No. 7 seeds

Golden State Warriors (41-32) — Home (5), Away (3): 4/3 vs. New Orleans; 4/5 at Phoenix; 4/7 vs. Utah; 4/9 vs. Minnesota; 4/11 vs. OKC; 4/12 at Los Angeles Lakers; 4/15 vs. San Antonio; 4/17 at Portland.

Houston Rockets (39-33) — Home (4), Away (5): 4/1 vs. Orlando; 4/3 at Sacramento; 4/5 at Portland; 4/6 at Denver; 4/9 vs. Phoenix; 4/12 vs. Memphis; 4/14 vs. Sacramento; 4/15 at Phoenix; 4/17 at Los Angeles Lakers.

Projected finish: No. 6 Warriors, No. 7 Rockets. Both these teams are capable of getting hot — extremely hot. Golden State has a more favorable schedule with one more home game and two fewer road games. However, the Rockets get to play the Kings twice, the Suns twice and the Magic once.

No. 8 seed

Utah Jazz (37-36) — Home (5), Away (3): 4/1 vs. Portland; 4/3 vs. Denver; 4/5 vs. New Orleans; 4/7 at Golden State; 4/9 vs. OKC; 4/12 vs. Minnesota; 4/15 at Minnesota; 4/17 at Memphis.

Los Angeles Lakers (37-36) — Home (6), Away (2): 4/2 vs. Dallas; 4/5 vs. Memphis; 4/7 at Los Angeles Clippers; 4/9 vs. New Orleans; 4/10 at Portland; 4/12 vs. Golden State; 4/14 vs. San Antonio; 4/17 vs. Houston.

Dallas Mavericks (35-37) — Home (3), Away (5): 4/2 at Los Angeles Lakers; 4/4 at Denver; 4/5 at Sacramento; 4/7 at Portland; 4/10 vs. Phoenix; 4/12 vs. Denver; 4/14 at New Orleans; 4/15 vs. Memphis; 4/17 vs. New Orleans.

Projected finish: No. 8 Lakers. The Lakers have only one true road game left (at Portland), with six home games and one “road” game against the Clippers remaining at Staples Center. A heavy home schedule gives the Jazz a chance, but Utah stinks on the road (11-27). Dallas' closing schedule includes a four-game road trip.

Note: Records do not include Saturday's results
