The Oklahoma City mayoral candidates

Four people have announced their candidacy for mayor of Oklahoma City. They are incumbent Mayor Mick Cornett, Ward 2 Councilman Ed Shadid, Phil Hughes, and Joe B. Sarge Nelson.

Four candidates for mayor are on the ballot March 4 in Oklahoma City. Besides Mayor Mick Cornett and Ward 2 Councilman Ed Shadid, they are:

Phil Hughes, 61, of northwest Oklahoma City, an advocate for advanced freight and passenger rail designs and systems.

Joe B. Sarge Nelson, 76, of south Oklahoma City, appears frequently at council meetings to comment on issues facing the city.

The post is nonpartisan and pays $24,000 per year. The mayor serves a four-year term.
