Some of you are on Facebook. Actually, a lot of you are on Facebook. And that’s good. Nothing wrong with Facebook.

But if you’re on Facebook, and you’re reading this, make sure you are following The Oklahoman’s Facebook account.

Some of you are on Twitter. Probably not as many of you as are on Facebook, but there are still a good number of you on Twitter. That’s good, too. Nothing wrong with Twitter.

But if you’re on Twitter, and you’re reading this, make sure you are following The Oklahoman’s Twitter account.

(Alert … This is the part of the program where I write about the difference between The Oklahoman’s digital products and NewsOK’s digital products.)

We have lots of followers on the NewsOK social media accounts. Those followers get updates from NewsOK about the types of stories that are driving conversation and audience on NewsOK and NewsOK Mobile. It’s a wide variety of stories from all over the web and from right here in our state.

We don’t have near the number of followers on The Oklahoman’s social media accounts. There are a couple reasons for that.

  • One, we launched it years after we launched NewsOK’s. These things take time.
  • And two, we don’t post as many breaking news items to that account. Generally, we are posting our exclusive and enterprise journalism from The Oklahoman’s newsroom.

If you follow The Oklahoman’s social media accounts, you’re going to see, among other things, stories that are exclusive to subscribers. You will also see front pages every day and promotions to what you’ll see in upcoming editions of The Oklahoman.

My favorite social-media inclined news consumer, of course, is the one that follows both The Oklahoman and NewsOK on their favorite social media platforms.

That way they will get updates about all the trending and breaking stories (NewsOK) and all the alerts on the enterprise reporting, features and investigations (The Oklahoman).

We hope to see our subscribers in the digital space.
