The Oklahoman's Class 2A rankings: Washington breaks in, others lurking outside top 10

With a tough win in a defensive battle against Purcell, Washington cracks the Class 2A top 10 this week, taking the spot of Frederick, which fell to 0-2.

And several teams in the class are developing strong resumes as they try to make their cases for a spot in the poll. Teams like Hartshorne, Meeker, Colcord, Dibble and others have gotten off to unbeaten starts with the talent to jump into the top 10 at any point.

Millwood firmed up its grasp on No. 1 with a 31-12 win over Class 4A No. 5 Douglass on Saturday. Up next, the Falcons face a stout 2A opponent, playing at eighth-ranked Adair this Friday. Second-ranked Davis was slow out of the gate, but ended up putting away rival Sulphur.

OCS and Stroud both bounced back from Week 1 losses to 3A opponents with victories to hold their spots in the poll as well.
