With its second win of the year over a top-five opponent, Guthrie strengthened its position atop the Class 5A poll, heading into another big District 5A-4 game against McGuinness this week.

With Guthrie’s 28-3 win over Deer Creek, the Antlers dropped one spot, flipping places with 7-1 Ardmore. Meanwhile, after its second consecutive lopsided loss and third defeat overall, Tulsa Kelley slipped out of the poll, being replaced by Collinsville. The Cardinals have won four straight to improve to 6-2 on the year, coming off a 21-point victory over Tulsa East Central.

Another 6-2 team, Tulsa Memorial, has made a case for that 10th spot as well, but Collinsville’s resume was just a little stronger.

Here’s The Oklahoman’s Class 5A top 10:

Rank, Team, Record (Prev.)
1. Guthrie, 8-0 (1)
2. McAlester, 7-1 (2)
3. Carl Albert, 6-2 (3)
4. Lawton MacArthur, 6-2 (4)
5. Ardmore, 7-1 (6)
6. Deer Creek, 5-3 (5)
7. Shawnee, 6-2 (7)
8. Pryor, 6-2 (10)
9. Del City, 5-3 (9)
10. Collinsville, 6-2 (NR)
Dropped out: Tulsa Kelley, 5-3 (8)
