It would have seemed like Week 6 would be the big week for a shake-up in the Class 5A rankings, particularly with No. 1 Carl Albert set to host No. 2 Guthrie. But Week 5 brought some significant movement, particularly with Ardmore’s upset of Del City, and Del City’s loss of quarterback Terry Wilson to a broken collarbone.

That game boosted Ardmore to No. 7 in the poll, while Del City fell to eighth. McAlester defeated Shawnee, which is clinging to the final spot in the poll, and Carl Albert beat McGuinness — its third loss — which fell out of the poll this week.

Seven of the 10 teams find themselves in a different spot than a week ago. Here’s The Oklahoman’s Class 5A top 10:

Rank, Team, Record (Prev.)
1. Carl Albert, 4-1 (1)
2. Guthrie, 5-0 (2)
3. McAlester, 4-1 (4)
4. Lawton MacArthur, 3-2 (5)
5. Deer Creek, 3-2 (6)
6. Tulsa Kelley, 4-1 (8)
7. Ardmore, 4-1 (NR)
8. Del City, 2-3 (3)
9. Claremore, 4-1 (9)
10. Shawnee, 3-2 (7)
Dropped out: McGuinness, 2-3 (10)
