With its blowout win over previously No. 6 Deer Creek, McGuinness returned to the top 10 for the first time since its 2-3 start.

The Irish got in ahead of Claremore, not only because of the dominant win over Deer Creek, but based on their overall performance against a very tough schedule. Not only has McGuinness played in a stout District 5A-2, it faced Shawnee, Tulsa Kelley and Weatherford in the non-district portion of the season.

Ardmore dropped one spot with its loss to Lawton MacArthur, which was as much a product of Shawnee’s accomplishments, particularly with its five-game win streak to end the regular season.

Here’s how The Oklahoman’s Class 5A top 10 stands after the final week of the regular season:

Rank, Team, Record (Prev.)
1. Guthrie, 10-0 (1)
2. McAlester, 9-1 (2)
3. Carl Albert, 8-2 (3)
4. Lawton MacArthur, 8-2 (4)
5. Shawnee, 8-2 (7)
6. Ardmore, 8-2 (5)
7. Del City, 7-3 (8)
8. Collinsville, 8-2 (9)
9. Pryor, 7-3 (10)
10. McGuinness, 6-4 (NR)
Dropped out: Deer Creek, 6-4 (6)
