The Oklahoman's Class A rankings: Minco, Talihina break in

An interesting week in Class A saw no movement in the top six spots of the poll, but the bottom four are all different from a week ago.

Minco, with its 43-0 win over Wayne, jumps into the top 10, along with Talihina, off to an unbeaten start. Wayne was granted a little latitude in the ranking process, because it was without its star running back, Louden Johnson, against Minco. That allowed Wayne to hold onto the 10th spot in the poll this week.

Texhoma dropped out with its 0-2 start, though it’s hard to truly judge what kind of team Texhoma is, considering it won’t play an Oklahoma team until Week 4. Fairview also dropped out of the poll, more because of other teams jumping ahead than as punishment for its loss to Class 2A Chisholm.

Ringling was idle last week, but still holds onto the top spot. Thomas, however, is flexing its muscle at No. 2, coming off a 14-0 win over No. 6 Okeene on Friday.

Here’s The Oklahoman’s updated Class A poll:

Rank, Team, Record (Prev.)
1. Ringling, 0-1 (1)
2. Thomas, 2-0 (2)
3. Wynnewood, 1-1 (3)
4. Kiefer, 2-0 (4)
5. Hollis, 2-0 (5)
6. Okeene, 1-1 (6)
7. Cashion, 1-1 (9)
8. Minco, 1-1 (NR)
9. Talihina, 2-0 (NR)
10. Wayne, 1-1 (7)
Dropped out: Texhoma, 0-2 (8); Fairview, 1-1 (10)
