With clutch victories over Maud and Webbers Falls the last two weeks, Southwest Covenant has fought its way into the Class C top 10 this week.

SWC takes the spot vacated by Timberlake, which suffered a 58-28 loss to No. 6 Bluejacket. The debate between SWC and Timberlake was a close one for the 10th spot.

Both teams have four losses, all to good teams, including three ranked Class C opponents each. SWC’s recent wins over Maud and Webbers Falls were the tipping point. Both of those teams have been ranked at different points this season, while Timberlake hasn’t played as many good opponents. So that gave SWC a slight edge in the poll.

Here’s how The Oklahoman’s Class C top 10 stands:

Rank, Team, Record (Prev.)
1. Cherokee, 7-0 (1)
2. Tipton, 7-0 (2)
3. Sharon-Mutual, 9-0 (3)
4. Thackerville, 8-0 (4)
5. Shattuck, 7-1 (5)
6. Bluejacket, 8-1 (6)
7. Balko, 7-2 (7)
8. Arkoma, 6-3 (9)
9. Sasakwa, 6-3 (10)
10. Southwest Covenant, 5-4 (NR)
Dropped out: Timberlake, 5-4 (8)
