The Oklahoman's Class C rankings: Upset victory boosts Timberlake into top 10

by Scott Wright Published: September 23, 2013

It was a rather calm week in Class C, with three top-10 teams taking the week off, and six others adding victories.

The only shakeup came with previous No. 5 Deer Creek-Lamont’s 40-20 loss to Timberlake, which knocked a 1-2 DC-Lamont squad out of the poll and brought Timberlake in at No. 10. Timberlake is 2-0 in district play already, and 2-1 on the season with the only loss coming to Ringwood, a team on the fringe of the top 10 in Class B.

Otherwise, everyone held ground, or moved up because of the vacated fifth spot. Here’s The Oklahoman’s Class C poll after three weeks of play:

Rank, Team, Record (Prev.)1. Tipton, 3-0 (1)
2. Cherokee, 2-0 (2)
3. Sharon-Mutual, 3-0 (3)
4. Thackerville, 2-0 (4)
5. Balko, 3-0 (6)
6. Ryan, 1-1 (7)
7. Bluejacket, 2-1 (8)
8. Maud, 3-0 (9)
9. Shattuck, 2-1 (10)
10. Timberlake, 2-1 (NR)
Dropped out: Deer Creek-Lamont, 1-1 (5)
