The Oklahoman's Facebook account is full of facts and fun

by Alan Herzberger Published: August 1, 2014

The Oklahoman’s Facebook page is full of celebrities.

Don’t believe me?

James Taylor is there right now. If you want to see him, log on to Facebook and go to The Oklahoman’s page. You can enter to win two tickets to see James Taylor and his band.

Kevin Durant was there earlier this week. We were giving away a spot in his ProCamp for kids. It’s too late to participate in that giveaway, but a lot of people were signing up for that opportunity.

Michael Buble was there the week before. He’s playing in Oklahoma City on Saturday, and if you were following The Oklahoman on Facebook last week, you might be going to see him — for free.

All these were recent giveaways on The Oklahoman’s Facebook page. The giveaways are fun. People seem to like them. We reach thousands of users with each post about a giveaway.

But The Oklahoman’s Facebook page is much deeper than just that one type of post. You can see early versions of stories that will eventually be available to all NewsOK readers. You can read those before everyone else.

And The Oklahoman’s Facebook page is where you can find promotions to our best enterprise reporting.

Plus, we make a habit of posting an image of The Oklahoman’s front page every night. Before you even get to the driveway to pick up the paper, you can get a quick preview of the front page on The Oklahoman’s Facebook account.

And speaking of celebrities, we even had a photo of business reporter and blogger Steve Lackmeyer on the page. In this case we weren’t giving away a spot on his weekly chat. We were simply promoting a story written about him for his upcoming speaking engagement at the Confluence Conference.

If you are an Oklahoman or want to be connected to Oklahoma in any way, following The Oklahoman’s page on Facebook is an important step to staying connected.
