In time for holiday shopping and a little over a year since the mall opened, The Outlet Shoppes at Oklahoma City is expanding with six new stores.
Most of the retailers, which include Coach Men's Factory, Columbia Sportswear Co., Kenneth Cole and Lucky Brand Outlet, open to the public Friday. Loft Outlet, a women's retailer under the umbrella of Ann Inc., opened Wednesday.
The Waterford crystal outlet store is expected to open next week because shipment of the store's inventory was delayed after Hurricane Sandy, said Janet Drift, a spokeswoman for Waterford.
Waterford's New Jersey office lost power for several days and once electricity was restored, the shipment couldn't be picked up due to a fuel shortage. Drift said the truck has arrived in Oklahoma and the store likely will open Wednesday.
Crews broke ground on the 27,800-square-foot addition on the southwest end of the mall this summer.
“Retailer and shopper demand enabled this expansion to be completed only 15 months after the initial opening of the center. It is a testament to the many valued customers in Oklahoma City and the surrounding areas that have made this center such a huge success,” said Gary Skoien, chief executive officer of Horizon Group Properties, which owns the mall with CBL & Associates. “We have the capacity to further expand the center by an additional 31,700 square feet and we expect to continue to add to the roster of top-shelf stores at the center.”
Nearly all of the retailers will be new to the Oklahoma City market.
Some stores will have discounts for the opening weekend.
At Columbia Sportswear, shoppers can receive a 15 percent discount on their entire purchase noon Friday through Sunday, plus receive a free reusable Columbia tote bag with each purchase. The 8,500-square-foot store will carry men's, women's and children's apparel, shoes and accessories for the outdoors.
