This year’s Sooners have plenty to prove
NORMAN — The traditional roles have been reversed. Unlike plenty of occasions in the rivalry’s past, it’s Oklahoma that will try to prevent Oklahoma State from nudging its way into a top-10 ranking and a BCS bowl bid. Just don’t tab the Sooners as spoilers; they have no plans of embracing that new, unfamiliar role.

Last season, No. 3 Oklahoma defeated No. 11 Oklahoma State in Stillwater on its way to the Big 12 title and a spot in the BCS Championship game. This season, a depleted Sooner team is trying to spoil the BCS bowl game chances of No. 11 Oklahoma State in Norman. PHOTO BY NATE BILLINGS, THE OKLAHOMAN ARCHIVES
