Three Oklahomans held after shooting, standoff in Texas town

Myron McDonald Jr., 22, and Christopher Deshawn Johnson, 24, were being held in the Mitchell County jail on complaints of attempted capital murder and felon in possession of a firearm, Sheriff Patrick Toombs said. McDonald also was being held on a complaint of evading arrest.

The 16-year-old boy was being held at a juvenile facility in Abilene, authorities said.

The three Oklahomans are suspected of firing shots at a Texas state trooper during a Monday morning traffic stop, Toombs said.

A sport utility vehicle owned by an Oklahoma City car dealership, traveling 109 mph on Interstate 20, was stopped by the trooper about 6:20 a.m. near Colorado City, Toombs said.

The speed limit for the area is 75 mph.

After shots were fired, the SUV fled and led several law enforcement officers in a 30-mile, high-speed chase through Colorado City and surrounding rural areas.
