Oklahoma football: 3 turnovers too much for Sooners to overcome

BY ANTHONY SLATER, Staff Writer, Published: September 22, 2012

Here is a look at Kansas State's 24-19 win over Oklahoma by the numbers:

3: Backbreaking OU turnovers. Landry Jones and the Sooners undoing. The story of the game.

4: Career home losses for Bob Stoops, compared to 78 wins. But that's now two straight years a conference opponent, ranked lower than the Sooners, have come to Owen Field and left with an upset.

9: Touchdowns for Landry Jones, combined, in his previous two career games against Kansas State. On Saturday, he only had one, a meaningless fourth-quarter strike, to go along with his two turnovers.

14: Fourth-quarter points for Kansas State. OU's defense was pretty stout for the first 45 minutes, but Collin Klein and the K-State running game wore down the Sooners, converting every third down in the fourth quarter and scoring two crucial touchdowns.

14: Tackles for safety Tony Jefferson, who was OU's best defensive player Saturday.

88: Team rushing yards for Oklahoma, compared to Kansas State's 213.

108: Receiving yards for freshman Sterling Shepard, who was OU's best offensive player.

529: Rushing yards and five touchdowns for Damien Williams in his first two OU games. Against Kansas State, Williams had 34 yards and no touchdowns. And he's had the same amount of carries (10) in all three games.

2-30: Kansas State's all-time record against OU teams ranked in the top-10. The Wildcats hadn't won in Norman since 1997.
