Thunder basketball: OKC ranks last in one advanced metric

NBA.com's John Schuhmann wrote an interesting piece exposing one of the Thunder's weaknesses on defense.

It's not very often, if ever, that you'll see the Thunder ranked dead last in the league in any category, but OKC is 30th out of 30 teams in what SportVU quantifies as "percentage of opponent jump shots contested."

Now, what qualifies as a contested jumper is one question. From Schuhmann: SportVU defines a jump shot as any shot out outside of 10 feet. It’s contested if a defender is within four feet of the shooter.

But Schuhmann also points out that the Thunder are outstanding in other defensive metrics, such as opponent effective field-goal percentage and defensive efficiency (in both categories, the Thunder is fourth in the NBA).
