Losing those games prior to the Memphis game really helped us see where we’re at. We battled. We continued to get better. We learned from our mistakes and learned how to close out a game.”
Several players viewed Brooks being named interim head coach 10 days ago as a fresh start. The Thunder is 1-4 under Brooks but also had the last-second losses to the Suns and Timberwolves.
"Take the Cleveland game out of the equation, and we’ve been playing some pretty solid basketball,” said Desmond Mason. "It shows we’re headed in the right direction.”
Oklahoma City was 2-15 in November. Progress the final week of November might produce many more wins in December, starting with Wednesday night’s game at Charlotte.
"If we just play hard and continue to play well, the wins are going to come,” said forward Joe Smith. "We had some tough losses last week against some good teams, some losses that if we had done some things differently we could have walked away with some wins.
"It just comes down to building off what we did the last week, what we did in Memphis and try to move forward. If we continue to work at it the wins are going to come.”
