Thunder month in review: Player grades

BY DARNELL MAYBERRY, Staff Writer, Published: January 2, 2010
Grade: A-.

Comment: Just when it looked like Krstic was damaged goods, he came alive in December. Krstic increased his points, rebounds, assists, blocks, field-goal percentage and free-throw percentage while recording his first double-double this season in December.

Eric Maynor

Grade: A.

Comment: Maynor has been as good as advertised as a young savvy and steady point guard. The Thunder is 5-0 since acquiring him from Utah, and Maynor has averaged only 4.8 points but has recorded 16 assists and only two turnovers.

Thabo Sefolosha

Grade: B-.

Comment: Sefolosha’s minutes took a hit in light of Harden’s increased productivity, and there were fewer big-name players for Sefolosha to lock up in December. As a result, Sefolosha’s numbers decreased, but he remained effective when given the opportunities.

Russell Westbrook

Grade: A+.

Comment: Westbrook averaged 7.5 assists against 2.5 turnovers, proving he can effectively run a team. His controlled play and improved decision-making came at the expense of his offense, as his shooting slipped to 35.7 percent from the field and 20.6 percent from 3. But over his last nine games in December, Westbrook tallied 73 assists and just 18 turnovers.
