Thunder notebook: Home sweet home no more

Thunder's win breaks trend of home team winning each game.

The Thunder's 108-103 victory over the San Antonio Spurs in Game 5 on Monday night at the AT&T Center ended the home team's dominance in the Western Conference Finals.

This should have been anticipated because in the 66-year history of the NBA (and BAA) playoffs, only 18 times have home teams won every game in a best-of-seven series.

The Eastern Conference Finals between Miami and Boston has been all about home court thus far.

Here are the 18 series decided with the home team winning every game:

1955; NBA Finals; Syracuse def. Fort Wayne

1959; Eastern Division Finals; Boston def. Syracuse

1962; Eastern Division Finals; Boston def, Philadelphia

1963: Western Division Finals; LA Lakers def. St. Louis

1965; Eastern Division Finals; Boston def. Philadelphia

1971; Western Conference semifinals; LA Lakers def. Chicago

1973; Western Conference semifinals; LA Lakers def. Chicago

1984; Eastern Conference semifinals; Boston def. New York

1987; Eastern Conference Finals; Boston def. Detroit

1988; Western Conference Finals; LA Lakers def. Dallas

1990; Western Conference semifinals; Portland def. San Antonio

1990; Eastern Conference Finals; Detroit def. Chicago

1993; Western Conference semifinals; Seattle def. Houston

1995; Eastern Conference Finals; Orlando def. Indiana

2004; Eastern Conference first round; Miami def. New Orleans
