The NBA Draft is June 23. The following day, area youth in Manteca, Calif., will have an opportunity to meet the 2009-10 NBA Coach of the Year. A native of nearby Lathrop and a former East Union High basketball standout, Brooks will serve as a guest coach on the final day of the Manteca Unified School District Basketball Camp at Lathrop High.

On June 25, Brooks will attend a dinner in his honor at the renamed Lathrop Community Center Gym, which is now Scott Brooks Gym following a unanimous vote by the city council last September.

Bill Slikker, who was an instructor when Brooks held a summer camp at East Union in 2002-04, said he hopes it can become an annual event that includes Brooks.

IBAKA, COOK VISIT CAMP

Forward Serge Ibaka and guard Daequan Cook will visit this week's Thunder Youth Basketball Summer Camp at the Santa Fe Family Life Center.

Ibaka is scheduled to attend the camp Tuesday at 1 p.m. and Cook on Thursday at 1 p.m. Thunder assistant coach Maz Trakh will also be working with the campers this week.

The five-day camp began Monday and is the second of six scheduled this summer as part of the Thunder Youth Basketball Summer Camp series. Each camp focuses on fundamentals while also emphasizing the importance of teamwork and sportsmanship.
