Thunder notebook: Suddenly, Kevin Durant for 3 is far from automatic

Thunder All-Star Kevin Durant has missed 13 straight 3-pointers since making his final attempt in Game 1 on Tuesday. He was 0 for 5 in Game 2 on Thursday and 0 for 8 on Saturday.

“It's not like me to miss 13 3s in a row,” Durant said. “I get them up every day. It is just a matter of me being confident. I can't come into the game and pass up on wide-open shots. I got three or four wide-open 3s tonight that looked good, (but) just didn't fall. But I've got to stay confident, stay positive. I know my teammates are going to pick me up and encourage me every time I step on that floor, so I am in good hands. I feel good.”

Former Thunder reserve guard Kevin Ollie, now an assistant coach at his alma mater UConn, gave the pre-game prayer for Game 3 of the Western Conference Finals on Saturday night inside Oklahoma City Arena.

“It's a quick trip,” Ollie said. “The boss (Huskies coach Jim Calhoun) wants us back in the office Monday.”

Ollie was part of the Huskies' national championship in his first season as an assistant. “I'm thinking I might retire now,” Ollie joked, while attending Saturday morning's shoot-around at the Thunder practice facility.

“I'm hoping to go 2-for-2,” Ollie said, referring to OKC winning this year's NBA title.

Also spotted in the crowd were former OU football great Roy Williams, Oklahoma native and Kansas basketball coach Bill Self and former KU great and assistant coach Danny Manning, who had lunch Saturday with Thunder rookie and former Jayhawk Cole Aldrich.
