“I would hope that coaches in the West would realize that, without him, I don't know where the heck we'd be.”

LEBRON ON DURANT

Miami's LeBron James, a leading candidate for MVP this season, said the following of Thunder All-Star Kevin Durant:

“Since he was born, he knew how to put the ball in the basket, but I think his leadership has continued to jump. He wasn't very vocal early in his career, but now he's very vocal, he understands this is his team and the team is going to follow him. That's usually the last stage when you become a superstar, and he's done that.”

TULSA 66ERS CHOSEN

Tulsa 66ers guard Zabian Dowdell, forward Larry Owens, coach Nate Tibbetts, assistant Dale Osbourne and athletic trainer Tony Katzenmeier have been chosen for the fifth annual NBA D-League All-Star Game, to be held Feb. 19 in Los Angeles as part of NBA All-Star Weekend. The game will air live on NBA TV at 4 p.m.

Dowdell and Owens were the D-League's first two NBA call-ups this season. Dowdell was signed by the Phoenix Suns on Jan. 9. Owens, who played at Oral Roberts, signed a second 10-day contract with the San Antonio Spurs last week.

The Tulsa coaches were chosen because the 66ers have a league-best 22-7 record in the West.
