Minnesota All-Star forward Kevin Love did not make the current road trip with the Timberwolves and will miss Friday night's game against the Thunder inside Oklahoma City Arena. He also missed Thursday night's game at Dallas because of a strained left groin, which marked his first missed game this season.
The injury obviously was affecting Love, who is averaging 20.3 points on the season, but averaged just 10.8 his last four outings. Love recently recorded the NBA's longest double-double streak (53 games) since the NBA/ABA merger in 1976.
Love is close friends with Thunder point guard Russell Westbrook, who were former teammates at UCLA in 2007-08. Westbrook was picked No. 4 in the 2008 draft and Love was picked No. 5.
Wolves starting forward Michael Beasley is battling a bruised left hip and is listed as questionable.
Minnesota is 1-13 vs. the Northwest division, 0-6 vs. the Northwest on the road and 0-3 in overtime this season.
OKC is 9-2 vs. the Northwest division, 6-1 vs. the Northwest at home and 7-1 in overtime.
