Thunder mascot on hold
Oklahoma City's NBA team has a nickname, logo and team uniforms. But what about the mascot?

Thunder fans will have to wait.

"There will not be a mascot at the start of the season,” said team spokesman Dan Mahoney. "It might not be ready until the second half of the season, maybe even after the All-Star break (in February). We're going to take some time to develop it. We want to make sure it's the right mascot and the design is right.”

First practice is a long one
Coach P.J. Carlesimo put the team through a lengthy 3-hour, 10-minute practice the first day of camp. "We had great enthusiasm and good attention,” Carlesimo said. "The biggest challenge is it's tedious from a players' standpoint because you're introducing so much. There's a lot of standing around. But you've got to walk before you can run.
